青春版《牡丹亭》由台湾知名作家白先勇和江苏苏州昆剧院联合重新打造。
与传统《牡丹亭》的表现手法不同，青春版不仅大胆启用只有20多岁的年轻演员俞玖林和沈丰英来饰演主角书生柳梦梅和少女杜丽娘，而且采用了全新的手法来演绎他们的爱情神话。这使有着400年古老历史的昆曲艺术重新迸发出青春的气息。
在光彩艳丽的舞台上，梦中相会的这对情侣不只用缠绵的水袖来表达缱绻的恋情，而是实实在在地贴近了一把。他们眉目传情，时而在花前温柔相拥，时而在风中倾诉衷肠；举手投足不仅舒展大方，而且温情脉脉。这真是好一番“湖山畔，云缠雨绵；雕栏外，红翻翠骈；惹下蜂愁蝶恋！”
